As we all know Divya darshnam is the new scheme for poor people started by AP Government. Under this scheme, poor people can visit the famous temples present in AP. About Srikalahasti temple:

SriKalahasteeswara temple is one of the famous Lord Shiva temples in South India. This temple is located 36 km away from Tirupati and it is famous for Vayu linga (One of the Panchabhoota Sthalams, wind). This temple is also regarded as Dakshina Kailasam and Rahu Ketu Kshetra.

Srikalahasti Temple

The inner temple was constructed in 12th century by Vijayanagara and Chola kings. Lord Siva accept Vayu is worshipped as Kalahasteeswara. This is also a site where Kannappa was ready to offer eyes to Siva linga before that Lord Siva stopped him and granted Mukti.

Importance of SriKalahasteeswara temple:

In the main temple of Siva, there is the lamp which wavering flame throughout day and night without any traces of wind. The Siva linga color is white and also that is self Swayambhu. The main Linga not even touched by priests till now it remains untouched.

The Abhishekam is not performed to main Shiva lingam in a temple. Only Abhishekam is offered to Utsava Murthi of Siva like milk, water, sandalwood, camphor, flowers, and other things. As per the legends all Asuras, Gandharvas, Suras, Kimpurushas, Kinnaras, Saadhvis, Siddhas, humans, and other will worship this Lingam.

As per history, once Sri (Spider), Kala (snake) and Hasti (elephant) worshipped Lord Shiva Lingam after that the town named as Srikalahasti

  • Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 05:30 AM to 09:00 PM

  • Nithya Kalyanam: 11:30 AM
  • Prodhosha Kala Abhishekam: 05:30 PM
  • Nirajana Manthra Pushpam: 7 PM
  • Ekantha Seva: 9 PM
  • Kala sarpa Rahu Ketu Pooja: 6 AM to 6 PM

Ticket cost:

  • Suprabhata Seva, Gomatha Pooja: Rs 50
  • Archana: Rs 25
  • Sahasranamarchana: Rs 200
  • Thrisathi Archana: Rs 125
  • Rahu Ketu Pooja: Rs 300
  • Special Kala sarpa Nivarana Pooja: Rs 750
  • Aseervachana Rahu kethu Kala sarpa Nivarana Pooja: Rs 1500
  • Special Aseervachana Rahu Ketu Kala Sarpa Nivarana Pooja: Rs 2500

Note:

  • Devasthanam will arrange all Puja materials and temple authorities present Prasadam also Vastra Bahumanam after finishing Pooja
  • On all days in year, the Rahu Ketu Pooja will be performed except on Maha Shivaratri
  • For the special Pooja, tickets are available at temple counters in temple premises
