Mahanandi Temple

Mahanandi Temple is one of the beautiful places for tourism. In Andhra Pradesh, Mahanadi is also one famous temple. Under Andhra Pradesh Divya Darshanam scheme, Government provides the famous temple tour for poor people at free of cost. Mahanadi is also one visiting place under this scheme

About Mahanadi Temple:

Mahanadi is located in east Nallamala hills near to Nandyal. Mainly Mahanadi temple is famous for the freshwater pools, Nallamalla hill forest, Worlds biggest Nandi statue, nine Nandi Shrines. The main temple is surrounded by 3 pools (2 pools at temple entrance and one big pool inside the temple)

Bathing in an inside of the temple is prohibited after 5 PM every day. The water source coming at Garbhagruha, it is just below Swayambhu Linga. Devotees can offer prayers and touch Shiva Linga. The water during the winter will be very hot and vice versa in summer. The outgoing water irrigates land surrounding village

Importance of Mahanadi:

This temple is surrounded by forests, within 15 KM of Mahanadi there are 9 Nandi shrines called as Nava Nandulu. According to legends, Parvatha raja had 2 sons names as Salida and Nandi.

Silada got his name because he gave up food except for stone so that lord has converted into holy hills. In the same way, Nandi did penance of Lord Siva so Lord made him his vehicle. This is the place where Mahanadi exists. Like this, there are so many ledges stories about Mahanadi temple.

  • Suprabhata Seva: 04:30 AM to 5 AM
  • Astavidha Maha Mangala Harathi: 05:30 AM to 06:30 AM
  • Sarva Darshan, Nitya Kalyana seva: 11 AM
  • Sthanika Abhishekam, Bindhe Seva: 5 AM to 05:30 AM
  • Nijaroopa darshan: 8 AM to 9 AM
  • Sarva Darshan, Seeghra darshan, Rudrabhisekam, Ksherabhisekam, Sparsha Darshan and Mahadhaservachana Darshanam: 12 PM to 12:30 PM
  • Again Sarva Darshan: 2 PM to 05:30 PM and 8 PM to 9 PM
  • Maha Mangala Harathi: 05:30 PM to 06:30 PM
  • Again Nijaroopa darshan: 7 PM to 8 PM
  • Ekantha Seva is the last ritual at Lord Shiva temple: 9 PM

Festival:

In this temple, there is annually Maha Shivaratri festival is celebrated during in month of February / March.
