Kanipakam Vinayaka Temple the Andhra Pradesh state government has launched a new scheme for pilgrimage and named as Divya Darshanam. Under this scheme, poor people or backward class people get free pilgrim tours and these funds sponsored by state Government tourism funds. People visit Andhra Pradesh famous temples under this Divya Darshanam scheme

About Kanipakam temple:

Vinayaka temple is the Hindu temple of Ganesha which is located in Kanipakam, Chittoor district. KANI means wetland and PAKAM flow of water into the wetland. The temple was constructed in 11th century by Chola King Kulothunga Chola I.

Lord Vinayaka is self-manifested also called Swayambhu Sri Varasiddhi Vinayaka. At the temple entrance, you will see Bahuda River called koneru.

History of Vinayaka at Kanipakam:

According to legend, there are 3 brothers and they are handicap like Dumb, Blind and deaf. They had the small land used to cultivate. In olden days “Piccota system” is used to draw well.

One of the brothers started digging well deeper and they found that his tool was hitting some stone. Suddenly well was filled with blood. Immediately the 3 brothers healed. The villagers dried the well then Lord Vinayaka called Swayambhu idol emerged from the water

Importance of Vinayaka:

The main idol of Lord Vinayaka is still growing in size; knees and abdomen of an idol are seen. The well water overflows especially in monsoons and it served as tirtham to devotees
